Brief History of the Chapter
The Brazilian Chapter of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association was founded in 2001 and now has more than 350 members from all Brazilian states.
Our mission is to improve the medical practice and disseminate updated knowledge for all surgeons interested in HPB surgery and develop collaborative relationship with the other National Chapters, AHPBA and IHPBA.
In April 2016 we organized and hosted the 12th IHPBA WORLD CONGRESS in São Paulo city. We have received 2099 delegates and 220 invited speakers and chairs from 82 countries. An impressive number of 2046 inscribed abstracts was a record for all IHPBA World Congresses.
The Brazilian Chapter holds and supports annually several regional meetings and organizes the National Congress every 2 years. In 2017 our National Congress will be held in September in the city of Porto Alegre (RS).
